Mercurial Scimitar packs a Cleanse into an AD item: the active removes all crowd control and decides fights where ONE stun on you equals death.

Against Malzahar, Skarner, Morgana, or any comp whose plan is "lock the carry then burst", the active is not measured in stats — it is measured in fights where you stay alive. The MR and lifesteal round out the defensive role.

An item counter-pick: never buy it by default, buy it against the lockdown that actually kills you.
