Mechanical Tips

  • Daggers: drop after using Q and W, and when enemies die. Use E (Shunpo) on a dagger to pick it up and deal AoE damage to the surrounding area. Plan the positions of the daggers.
  • Preparation (W): Knocks you back and places a dagger at your original position. Use this to place a dagger behind you and immediately use E on it to dash away.
  • Shunpo (E): can be used on allies, enemies, minions and daggers. Use on an ally to escape or on a minion to close the gap on an enemy.
  • Shunpo Reset: kill/assist = resets E + reduces all cooldowns. In teamfights, chain targets after each kill.
  • Death Lotus (R): channeled, can be interrupted by CC. Activate from a safe position or whilst an enemy is disengaging.

Common Mistakes

  • Activating R in the thick of a fight without setting it up — you’ll be interrupted by any CC.
  • Not using daggers as a mobility tool — use them exclusively for damage.
  • Engaging without an escape plan — Katarina needs a kill to sustain her rotations.

  • Death Lotus applies Grievous Wounds — useful against champions with strong sustain.
