Mechanical Tips

  • Explosive Charge (3) stacking: the bomb stacks with EVERY auto-attack (and certain abilities) — 4 stacks = maximum detonation; in a burst combo, stack using Rapid Fire (1) to speed things up
  • Rocket Jump cooldown reset on kill: Rocket Jump resets its cooldown on a kill or assist — in teamfights with multiple potential kills, Tristana’s mobility becomes virtually limitless
  • Explosive Charge during the jump: it is possible to place the third stack on the target WHILE performing Rocket Jump (mid-air) — this saves ~0.5s on the bomb’s timing
  • Buster Shot (Ult) direction: the ultimate knocks the target back in the direction you’re aiming — knock them back towards a wall to stun them, or knock them out of a protected area (under a turret, towards your team)
  • Draw a Bead (passive): AA and ability range increase with each level — in the late game, Tristana has the range of a sniper; adjust your positioning accordingly

Common Mistakes

  • Rocket Jump for poke: Rocket Jump has a cooldown and is Tristana’s primary escape mechanism — don’t waste it on a half-hearted engage with no potential kill
  • Buster Shot at the wrong moment: knocking a target out of range of your allies helps the enemy escape — only use it to finish off an enemy or to send them into a bad spot
  • Ignoring the increasing range: Tristana has a massive range in the late game — don’t get too close to enemies; use her range to kite safely

Notable Interactions

  • Explosive Charge (3) can be placed on turrets — useful for quickly shredding a turret (stack it by hitting the turret with normal auto-attacks)
  • The Rocket Jump reset can also be triggered by assists — protect an ally whilst remaining mobile
  • With Infinity Edge + Phantom Dancer, detonating Explosive Charge whilst fully stacked with critical strikes can one-shot carries in the late game
