Mechanical Tips

  • Never pounce without a mark: if Javelin Toss misses, do not engage in Cougar form — wait for the cooldown to reset and try again before pouncing
  • Pounce reset on marked enemies: Pounce has a reduced cooldown when the target is ‘Hunted’ — chain Pounce → Swipe → Pounce again to harass without exposing your vulnerability
  • Bushwhack for vision: traps reveal bushes and slow enemies; place them along paths to signal ganks
  • Primal Surge before Pounce: the attack speed granted persists in Cougar form and significantly increases the combo’s damage via bonus auto-attacks

Common Mistakes

  • Transforming without having hit the Javelin: 90% of Nidalee’s burst damage comes from the Human → Cougar combo on a marked target — initiating it without setting it up simply leaves Nidalee exposed in melee range without any bonus
  • Going to the front line: Nidalee is neither a tank nor a bruiser — stay in the backline, throw javelins at high-value targets and only dive in to finish off guaranteed kills
  • Use Takedown first: Takedown deals more damage to targets with low HP — ALWAYS use it as a finisher after Pounce and Swipe

Notable Interactions

  • The Javelin deals more damage the further away you are — hitting from a distance whilst hidden in the bushes will take out squishies
  • With AP items (Luden’s Echo, Infinity Orb), the Javelin’s damage at maximum range can one-shot enemy carries
  • Primal Surge can heal an ally in Human Form — useful for supporting the ADC in double-support compositions
