Sett Wild Rift Expert Guide

With Sett, build grit by absorbing damage before releasing it — don't waste it in easy fights. Select your ultimate target by weight: throwing a tank into the enemy group is more impactful. Manage your combat exits through your passive regeneration.

Standard trade combo
1 E E
2 AA
3 AA
4 Q Q
5 AA
6 AA
7 W W

Pull with ability 3 for the stun if there are enemies on both sides, left-right auto-attacks for Grit, ability 1 for the auto-attack bonuses, ability 2 for the finishing blow

Early-game combo
1 E E
2 Q Q
3 AA
4 AA
5 R R
6 W W

Quick trade, ultimate to isolate a carry, 2 for true damage based on accumulated Grit

Flash engage combo
1 Protobelt
2 E E
3 Flash Flash
4 R R
5 W W

Protobelt to close the gap, 3 to pull, Flash for the optimal angle of the ultimate, which suplexes the target towards the allied team

Mechanical Tips

  • Pit Grit (passive): Auto-attacks alternate between left and right — the right-hand attack deals more damage and is faster — complete the left-right cycle BEFORE using Knuckle Down (1) to avoid the post-right delay
  • Haymaker (2) true damage: the Grit converted into a shield deals true damage at the centre of the cone — position Sett so that the enemy is in the centre (not at the edges) for maximum true damage
  • Facebreaker (3) stun: the third ability stuns (rather than slows) only if enemies are on BOTH sides of Sett — position yourself in the middle of a group or wait for two enemies to get close
  • The Show Stopper (Ult) – two uses: either suplex an enemy carry towards your own team for a team burst, or suplex the enemy frontline towards their own backline to split them up

Common Mistakes

  • Haymaker without sufficient Grit: wait until you’ve taken at least 2–3 hits before using Ability 2 — the true damage is proportional to the Grit accumulated
  • Facebreaker into thin air: using ability 3 without an enemy on either side will not stun — plan your positioning beforehand or use ability 3 solely to pull or slow a single target
  • The Show Stopper direction: the ultimate throws the target in the direction you point — calculate the angle correctly; a wrong direction may send the enemy towards your own team, helping them rather than hindering them

Notable Interactions

  • Sett can build up Grit from turret damage — during a dive, the Haymaker can be heavily charged
  • The Haymaker’s true damage ignores shields — ideal against Lulu/Janna/Karma compositions
  • With Sterak’s Gage, Sett’s survivability in teamfights is extremely high

FAQ

Sett is generally played as Top. The first objective is to wave management, tower side freezing vs ranged. call jungler on e timings. Its biggest edge comes from monstrous all-in if well timed w.

When is Sett strongest?

Sett takes over in mid game: couperet + sterak: force herald/dragons, flank tp if possible.

How do I punish Sett?

Sett can be punished when kitted by ranged and repeated controls. A practical answer listed here is: Punish him from a distance, then back off when he accelerates with Q.
