Cryptbloom trades a bit of damage for team value: percent magic penetration, haste, and a healing zone for your allies on every takedown.

Against the same resistances as Void Staff, it returns slightly less raw damage but converts every teamfight kill into a team-heal burst. On a mage who groups and participates in everything, it is often the best of both worlds.

The anti-MR pick for team mages; Void Staff stays ahead for a solo carry who only cares about personal damage.
