Zilean Wild Rift Expert Guide

With Zilean, save your ultimate for the most impactful carry in each teamfight — not systematically the ADC. Use bombs to slow and stun enemies advancing on your carries. Your speed buff is your most underrated ability — use it proactively.

§ 07b — Advanced MechanicsZilean: combos & tips Wild Rift

Double Bomb Stun Combo
1 Q Q
2 W W
3 Q Q

The first bomb hits the target; skill 2 reduces the cooldown of skill 1 to almost zero; the second bomb triggers the first one instantly → guaranteed 1.5s stun

Double Bomb Poke Combo
1 W W
2 Q Q
3
4 Q Q

Cast ability 2 to maximise available haste, then use double bombs in quick succession to trigger the stun

Ultimate support combo
1
2 R R
3 E E
4 Q Q

Pre-emptive ultimate on the ally in danger, 80% slow on the attacker, double bomb to stun and let the ally survive

Mechanical Tips

  • Double bomb = stun, not a bug: placing a second Time Bomb on a target that already has an active bomb triggers the FIRST bomb immediately — the stun affects ALL enemies within the blast radius; a fundamental Zilean technique
  • Twisted Timeflow (2) CD reduction: Ability 2 doubles the haste for a few seconds, massively reducing the cooldown of Ability 1 — always activate it BEFORE casting the first bomb so you can cast the second one quickly
  • Time Warp (3) dual-purpose: Ability 3 can speed up (allies) or slow down (enemies) by 80 per cent — use it on the most mobile enemy to immobilise them, or on your most valuable carry to boost their escape or engage
  • Chronoshift (Ult) proactive timing: the ultimate must be cast BEFORE the ally dies (not reactively) — anticipate enemy burst damage and use the ultimate on the ally as soon as they reach 25–30% HP during an engage

Common Mistakes

  • Single Time Bomb without follow-up: a single bomb without the second one does not stun — useless in combat if you cannot pull off the double; wait until both charges are available
  • Twisted Timeflow forgotten before the double bomb: failing to activate the second one before the sequence results in too long a delay between the two bombs — the enemy may flee out of range before the second bomb
  • Chronoshift too late: the ultimate has a cast animation — if the ally is at 5% HP, the ultimate arrives too late; target them at ~25–30% HP to guarantee the resurrection effect

Notable Interactions

  • The double stun is an AoE effect — if enemies are clustered around the target, they are all stunned; extremely powerful in tight teamfights
  • Time Warp can speed up your own carry to allow them to kite and attack, not just for escapes
  • Chronoshift protects against finishing blows (Pyke’s ultimate, Veigar’s ultimate) — the ally is ‘revived’ even if killed by these mechanics

FAQ

How should I play Zilean in Wild Rift?

Zilean is generally played as Support. The first objective is to warde the river entrances, poke at the bomb and protect your adc with defensive e. Its biggest edge comes from global peel via r.

When is Zilean strongest?

Zilean takes over in mid game: fast rotations thanks to e, force 5v5 objectives.

How do I punish Zilean?

Zilean can be punished when little damage sustained outside the double-bomb. A practical answer listed here is: Cut off his vision: Zilean suffers flank pain and is caught outside R.
