Runaan's Hurricane is an AoE DPS accelerator for ADCs that can punish multiple targets at once and profit from compact fights.

The item becomes strong when the enemy team gives you multiple bodies in range during the same combat window. Its value is not just faster waveclear: it turns on-hit or high-attack-speed carries into much harder threats to manage once frontline and backline stay connected.

It is a very rewarding mid-game buy on ADCs that already play around multiplying autos and on-hit effects. It becomes far less interesting when the game is all about hitting one isolated target, when you still lack baseline safety, or when your champion prefers a more single-target power curve.
