Messy-entry bruiser build: Wukong wins when he forces contact the enemy reads badly once and even worse the second time. The build must therefore protect his access, the quality of first impact, and enough durability that his second layer of control or damage truly matters.
Three builds, one right answer per draft. The advisor reads the five enemies (and your allies) and names who triggers what — the same rule as the Draft MVP sheet and Ask Nexus.
Best Wukong build (Baron Lane): Sundered Sky › Black Cleaver › Blade of the Ruined King › Experimental Hexplate › Spear of Shojin, boots Plated Steelcaps, keystone Grasp of the Undying. Three variants and when to pick each are below.

Same advisor in the Draft (the MVP sheet applies it to your real draft) and in Ask Nexus, which explains the choice. On counters pages: the variant to take against each counter-pick.
Foundational item core, without recent situational additions — kept as a base for understanding the kit. For the up-to-date build, see the section above.
Wukong needs to survive long enough to fully use his R and disrupt fights. The build maximizes survivability and sustained impact.
Long Sword
Sheen proc on E-AA-Q combo, burst in short trades
Anti-shield to burst protected carries when diving
Slow + penetration on Q and R Cyclone AoE
Gluttonous Greaves
Plated Steelcaps
Goredrinker
Your steady E-auto-Q trades carry the proc — every exchange builds permanent HP.
After a won trade, the clone covers your back while you take the plates.
Heals back poke between trades — doubled for melee, you hold the wave longer.
Permanent HP stacked while farming — your double teamfight R tanks that much more.
The flat bonus rides every auto in the E-auto-Q combo — short trades hit harder.
Level 5 is Wukong Jungle’s first major breakpoint. Before that, he can gank, but he cannot fully lock a fight by himself. Once Cyclone is available, every pushed lane and every objective becomes a real threat.
This timing gives Wukong his best balance between damage, sustain and engage pressure. He can reach a target, survive longer in melee and convert a knock-up into an objective instead of just a trade.
Death's Dance changes how he teamfights: Wukong can stay in contact long enough to use the second Cyclone, absorb part of the return damage and finish a target after the initial engage.
