Sona Wild Rift Expert Guide

With Sona, alternate your auras based on context — don't stay on the same one permanently. Save your ultimate for situations where multiple enemies are aligned or to counter a grouped engage. Always position at mid-range to hit allies with auras without exposing yourself.

§ 07b — Advanced MechanicsSona: combos & tips Wild Rift

Activate Power Chord Blue (ally damage)
1 Q Q
2 W W
3 Q Q

The last skill cast before the empowered AA determines the effect; cast skill 1 last to trigger the ally damage boost chord

Activate Power Chord Purple (slow)
1 Q Q
2 W W
3 E E

The Purple chord, cast after 3 different skills, applies a massive slow via the next auto-attack

Activate Power Chord Green (anti-heal/shield)
1 Q Q
2 E E
3 W W

Green Chord after casting skill 2 last: the next auto-attack applies an armour reduction or healing reduction [exact effect to be confirmed in WR]

Ultimate engage combo
1 R R
2 Q Q
3 W W
4 E E

Stun with the ultimate, damage + heal, then speed boost for the chase

Mechanical Tips

  • Power Chord tracking: Sona builds up her chord by casting abilities — keep an eye on the counter (3 casts = chord ready); always follow the 3rd cast with an auto-attack to use the chord immediately
  • Crescendo (Ult) angles: the ultimate travels in a straight line and stuns all enemies in its path — cast it through clusters of enemies or at chokepoints (base gates, narrow jungle paths)
  • Aura sharing: auras benefit nearby allies for a few seconds after being cast — stay close to the ADC to transfer the buffs from each aura to them
  • Aria of Perseverance (2): heals Sona AND the ally with the lowest HP within range — position yourself near the injured ADC to maximise the heal

Common Mistakes

  • Ultimate in 1v1 situations: Crescendo is powerful in group teamfights — wasting the ultimate on an isolated target means losing the AOE advantage; save it for teamfights
  • Ignoring the standard Power Chord sequence: casting abilities in a random order triggers an unwanted Power Chord — learn the sequence to specifically activate the desired chord at the right moment
  • Staying too far away: Sona’s auras have a limited range — stay within range of the ADC for the auras, but not on the front line where the damage is too high

Notable Interactions

  • Crescendo resets the actions of charging enemies (Malphite’s ultimate, Sion’s charge) — use it to interrupt enemy engages
  • Sona with the Locket of the Iron Solari doubles the protective auras on nearby allies
  • In peel compositions, Song of Celerity (3) + Shurelya allows the whole team to escape or catch up

FAQ

How should I play Sona in Wild Rift?

Sona is generally played as Support. The first objective is to ward river/tri-bush, poke q + accord, keep exhaust for all-in. Its biggest edge comes from reliable poke pressure and powerful aura scaling.

When is Sona strongest?

Sona takes over in mid game: play around r and redemption, deep vision on objectives.

How do I punish Sona?

Sona can be punished when extremely punishable by hooks and hard-engages. A practical answer listed here is: Force quick all-ins: Sona hates sudden engages.
