Durable zone-control mage build: Viktor must turn the map into expensive ground before the real teamfight even begins. The cleaned build therefore stresses the ability to hold space, delay enemy timings, and preserve DPS beyond the first exchange of cooldowns.
Three builds, one right answer per draft. The advisor reads the five enemies (and your allies) and names who triggers what — the same rule as the Draft MVP sheet and Ask Nexus.
Best Viktor build (Mid Lane): Luden's Echo › Rabadon's Deathcap › Infinity Orb › Lich Bane › Stormsurge, boots Boots of Mana, keystone First Strike. Three variants and when to pick each are below.

Viktor gains value over time in fights; the longer it lasts, the stronger his DPS and control become. This build maximizes that presence.

Your E poke opens exchanges from range — initiative becomes gold, funding your augment evolutions.
Boosts the R storm and refunds it on takedowns — your control zone returns fight after fight.
Reduces the cooldowns of his empowered spells to chain Q+W+E more often.
Two scaling curves in parallel — your evolutions and time-stacked AP converge in the late game.
Discourages the assassins sent at you — burst crashes into it while your gravity W answers.
Level 5 gives Viktor his real zoning threat. His R is not only for killing: it forces enemies to leave a corridor, step away from an objective, or give up a pressured wave.
With Luden’s Echo, his E becomes much more punishing in short trades and contested waves. This is often when Viktor stops merely surviving and starts dictating mid priority.
At two items, especially with Rabadon’s Deathcap or the right damage option, Viktor becomes a real threat to a mispositioned backline. Objectives turn into siege zones where every enemy entry can cost a summoner spell or a kill.
