Nami is an enchanter support in Wild Rift, a tidecaller specializing in attack buffs amplifying her ADC's damage and waves of chained CC. Her kit provides bouncing heals, a poisoning attack bonus via E, a slowing projectile, and a Tidal Wave crashing on enemies with a knock-up. She excels in lane-dominant compositions seeking to harass and win lane trades through buffed autos. In Wild Rift, her empowering E is one of the most underrated ADC buffs in the game, enabling aggressive trades even in unfavorable matchups.

Nami excels in compositions that continuously harass in lane through her attack buffs. She amplifies high-DPS ADCs by providing heals, slows, and attack bonuses through her E. Poke or follow-up engage compositions benefit from her chained CC.

Nami is exposed against aggressive engage compositions that don't give her time to place heals and CC. Her lack of mobility makes her vulnerable to picks and frontal dives. Fast burst compositions neutralize her healing before it has impact.

With Nami, apply your E on your ADC before every exchange to maximize damage and slows. Place your tidal wave in anticipation of enemy movement rather than reactively. In teamfights, your role is to keep your carry alive through regular heals and create openings with your CC.

She is ideal for players who can read enemy intentions and anticipate fights rather than react to them.

§ 06 — The matchup wallNami Wild Rift counters and synergies

Nami and Orianna control objective space perfectly thanks to two major AoE threats that chain very naturally. Tidal Wave forces enemies to slow down, spread out or burn a defensive cooldown, and Shockwave immediately punishes any compressed movement or panic clumping. This duo is especially powerful in structured dragon or Baron fights, where it turns a basic contest into a heavily one-sided teamfight.

Rengar benefits a lot from Nami because he mostly needs his target to be unable to kite or buy time after his initial leap. Nami can pre-buffer crowd control on Rengar's landing or use E to instantly amplify his burst on first contact. The duo becomes especially threatening into fragile backlines, where every Rengar ultimate turns into an almost guaranteed pick if Nami follows the timing correctly.

Empower the ADC with E, heal/poke with the bouncing W, and let the ADC auto-attack whilst buffed.

Engage combo

Slow-engage combo

Speed boost for the ally initiating the engagement, Q bubble on the target, W, R if they’re grouped together.

Mechanical Tips

Aqua Prison (Q): a bubble that knocks up. Can be difficult to land on its own. After R (knock-up), the target is immobilised = Q is virtually guaranteed. Or after E (slow), use Q to apply the bubble.
Ebb and Flow (W): Bounces between allies and enemies (3 bounces in total). If the first target is an enemy = damage. If an ally = heal. Manage the direction so that W bounces optimally.
Tidecaller’s Blessing (E): Empowers an ally’s next 3 hits (bonus damage + slow). Always cast on the ADC before a trade.
Tidal Wave (R): long range, knock-up and AoE slow. The further away the enemies are, the longer the effects last. Cast from long range for maximum slow.
Surging Tides (passive): Allies hit by Nami’s abilities gain a movement speed bonus — chain abilities onto allies for a permanent speed boost.

Common Mistakes

Casting Q without a prior setup (R or E) — Q on its own is difficult to land.
Casting W on yourself (Nami) without the bounce hitting the enemy.
Wasting R in an isolated situation — R is more effective against groups.

Notable Interactions

Ardent Censer synergises with E (heal W) to grant the ADC attack speed.
Tidal Wave can be used for long-range engagements across the map during objective fights.

Q.01 When should you use Nami’s R? +

Nami’s R is not just an engage tool. It is often more reliable as disengage or to structure fights around objectives. Using it in tight spaces or after applying a slow ensures much higher value than throwing it out from range without pressure. It should create a situation, not just start one.

Q.02 Why does my Q often miss? +

The issue is rarely the skillshot itself, but the timing. Q is a punishment tool, not a pure engage. If the enemy is free to move, they will dodge it easily. You need to force movement first through slows, trades, or pressure, then cast Q where they are likely to go.

Q.03 Is Nami viable in solo queue? +

Yes, but she heavily depends on your game reading ability. Unlike engage supports, she doesn’t force plays alone—she capitalizes on mistakes. If you play proactively and understand timing, she becomes extremely valuable. Otherwise, she may feel weak.

Q.04 What is her real role in teamfights? +

Nami must adapt her role based on the situation. If the enemy engages, she becomes a peel tool with R and Q. If your team has initiative, she turns slows and buffs into catch opportunities. She does not decide fights alone, but she shapes how they play out.
