§ 01 — Editorial brief

Nunu & Willump holds a very specific place in the jungle: he is not the champion who wins games through raw dueling, but the one who makes the map hard to ignore.

By WRC Studio ~ 2 min read Patch 7.1f

Nunu & Willump are a Jungle tank in Wild Rift, a boy-yeti duo specializing in ultra-fast objective taking and uncontrollable snowball engages. Their kit combines healing by devouring targets, a snowball traversing the jungle at high speed, and an Absolute Zero channeling massive AoE damage. They excel in objective compositions seeking to dominate drakes and create unmatched smite advantages. In Wild Rift, their auto-monster smite speed through devouring makes them practically unstoppable on neutral objectives, systematically forcing enemy junglers to contest or lose.

Nunu & Willump fit in engage or objective-focused compositions that benefit from their objective-taking speed. They benefit from allies who can follow their CC and convert engagements. Compositions aiming to dominate drakes and objectives get the maximum from their kit.

Nunu & Willump are countered by compositions that can interrupt their snowball before it reaches full power. Champions with disengage or mobility can easily exit their AoE ultimate. Early invade compositions can disrupt their jungle farming rhythm.

With Nunu & Willump, prioritize objectives — their taking speed is their most impactful asset. Launch your snowball from angles or bushes to maximize surprise. In teamfights, enter the group with your ultimate and resist as long as possible to maximize damage.

Expert note

Expert take

Nunu & Willump is an excellent choice for players who want to win through the map rather than mechanical dueling. He rewards discipline: knowing when to gank, when not to force, when to start an objective, and when to use his body to keep enemies out of the zone. His real value is not only stealing or securing Dragon; it is making that Dragon almost impossible to contest cleanly. However, he requires an honest read of the draft. If your team has no follow-up, no damage, and no lane priority, you may create plays nobody can convert. With the right setup, he becomes a very reliable game accelerator. Isolated, he becomes a brave but overly dependent engager.

Weak point

Hidden weakness

Nunu & Willump's hidden weakness is not just being kited: it is his dependence on team conversion. He can create an excellent situation with a snowball from an unexpected angle, but if his team does not understand that he has just created the window, the play becomes a wasted engage. He spends his body, cooldowns, and sometimes ultimate without earning a map reset. That is why his bad games look so obvious: he seems to be forcing, when the real issue is often lack of follow-up or poor timing awareness.

§ 02 — Strengths & weaknesses Nunu & Willump Wild Rift strengths and weaknesses

↑ Strengths
  • Pick him if you want to secure Dragon and Herald with a stronger margin than most junglers thanks to Consume + Smite.
  • He is excellent when your lanes have crowd control or immediate damage to turn a snowball into a kill, not just pressure.
  • He punishes teams that contest objectives late, especially in narrow paths where Absolute Zero becomes hard to respect.
  • He gives a disorganized team a clear structure: vision, objective, engage, reset, then next rotation.
↓ Weaknesses
  • Avoid him if your lanes cannot follow your entries: a perfect snowball means little if nobody can deal damage behind it.
  • Avoid him against too many champions who can break his jungle tempo through duels, because he does not want a game built around constant 1v1s.
  • Avoid him if your team already lacks sustained damage: Nunu can create the fight, but he cannot always finish it alone.
  • Avoid him in drafts where the enemy can play very wide, kite in open space, and refuse choke-point fights around objectives.

§ 08 — DialoguesNunu & Willump Wild Rift FAQ

Q.01 Is Nunu & Willump a good blind pick in the jungle? +

He can be blind picked if your goal is to secure the map and early objectives, but he is not risk-free. He becomes less reliable if the enemy can invade you, force jungle duels, or play very wide around fights. Before locking him in, check whether your team has enough damage and follow-up to convert your snowballs. Without that, you may create engages nobody can finish.

Q.02 Should Nunu & Willump be played for repeated ganks or objective control? +

Both are connected, but objectives should remain the end goal. A good Nunu & Willump gank is not only measured by a kill: a forced Flash, a bad enemy reset, or gained lane priority can open Dragon or Herald. If you gank without converting afterward, you are only playing the flashy part of the champion. If you turn each pressure window into river control, you are playing his true identity.

Q.03 Why do my Nunu & Willump engages fail even when my snowball hits? +

Because hitting W is only the start of the play. If your allies are too far away, if damage spells are not available, or if the enemy still has disengage tools, your engage can become a simple sacrifice. On Nunu & Willump, the right question is not only “can I hit this?”, but “can my team move forward in the next second?”.

Q.04 When should Absolute Zero be used in teamfights? +

Absolute Zero does not need to fully detonate to be useful. It often works by cutting off a path, forcing Flashes, or preventing enemies from entering an objective area. The best timing comes after an initial crowd control, a successful snowball, or an already-used repositioning spell. If you cast it too early in open space, the enemy simply walks out and you lose your strongest fight tool.
