§ 01 — Editorial brief

Nasus remains a pure scaling pick that thrives on tempo mistakes in solo queue.

By WRC Studio ~ 2 min read Patch 7.1f

Nasus is a Baron Lane fighter-tank in Wild Rift, a sand guardian accumulating Siphoning Strike stacks on last hits to reach unlimited power in late game. His kit combines an AoE slow, a passive life drain, and a divine transformation ultimate massively increasing size, health, and damage. He excels in late game compositions seeking to protect scaling until he becomes an uncontrollable threat. In Wild Rift, shorter games mean he reaches his power peak slightly earlier, reducing his dependency on very long games.

Nasus fits in patient compositions that allow him to scale and become an uncontrollable late game threat. He benefits from allies who can protect him in early while he accumulates stacks. Compositions aiming to win through late game attrition get the maximum from him.

Nasus is structurally weak against compositions that poke and harass him in early to prevent stack accumulation. Champions with sustained kite or disengage reduce his impact regardless of stack count. Anti-heal and % max health damage are his greatest threats.

With Nasus, last-hit discipline is absolute — every missed minion is a permanent power loss. Use your E to slow unfavorable trades and farm under tower if necessary. In teamfights, activate your ultimate before engaging to maximize durability and presence.

Expert note

Expert take

Nasus is not a “free” champion as many think. He requires strong tempo discipline and precise map reading. Played correctly, he forces impossible decisions for the enemy. Played poorly, he becomes a low-impact tank. His strength lies in turning time into real advantage, but only if the player knows when to accelerate and when to slow the game.

Weak point

Hidden weakness

Nasus' real weakness is not just kiting, but timing dependency. If forced to fight before his spikes or leaves side lane too early, he loses massive value. Additionally, poor early wave management can completely ruin his stacking progression.

§ 02 — Strengths & weaknesses Nasus Wild Rift strengths and weaknesses

↑ Strengths
  • Solo queue games last long enough for him to reach his spikes.
  • Wither heavily punishes poorly positioned carries.
  • Wave mismanagement often gives him free stacking opportunities.
  • Extremely strong side lane pressure that is hard to ignore.
↓ Weaknesses
  • Enemy draft with strong early aggression and dive potential.
  • Compositions with heavy poke and long-range kiting.
  • Allied team unable to slow the game down.
  • Immediate early map impact is required.

§ 05 — Recommended buildBest Nasus Wild Rift build for the current patch

Nasus builds around health and resistances to become a near-indestructible tank in late game. Cooldown reduction is essential to recast his Q frequently. In late game, his stack-amplified Q makes every attack a potentially decisive blow.

Ideal
Zilean
Zilean is exceptional with Nasus because he instantly fixes Nasus's main structural weakness: reaching the target without being kited to death before he can hit. The movement speed boosts grant Nasus contact access, while the revive allows him to play much more aggressively under Fury of the Sands. This synergy is monstrous against mobile carries or kite compositions where a few extra seconds of presence are enough to collapse the entire backline.
Ideal
Lulu
Lulu helps Nasus cross no man's land before contact and prevents him from being instantly neutralized once inside the fight. Her speed-up, defensive knockup, and especially her polymorph on the main enemy threat give Nasus the time to fully cash in on Siphoning Strike. The duo is very strong against drafts where Nasus can win the fight simply by staying on the right target for a few seconds.
Strong
Jarvan IV
Jarvan IV forces an initial lockdown that lets Nasus enter without wasting too much time chasing a mobile target. Cataclysm reduces the kiting space, and Wither adds a second layer of denial that makes escape almost impossible for the trapped carry. This synergy is particularly relevant against ranged teams that would otherwise have enough space to wear Nasus down before contact.
Strong
Orianna
Orianna works very well with Nasus in zone fights because she can use him as a threatening ball carrier while he walks forward. Nasus naturally attracts defensive reactions, and Orianna punishes that clustering with Shockwave when the enemy team tries to kite or wrap around him. The duo works well around objectives and in slower drafts where Nasus provides front pressure while Orianna delivers the real AoE punishment.

Tip · 01

Your job is not to win the early, but not to lose it: stable gold/XP and constant stacks.

With R, you're a frontlane that opens up space; aim for the carry with Wither and hit what's in range with the Q.

§ 08 — DialoguesNasus Wild Rift FAQ

Q.01 When should Nasus join teamfights? +

You should join fights only if your presence brings more value than your side lane pressure. If you can take a tower or force multiple enemies to respond, staying side is often better. However, if a major objective is contested and your team can engage with you, your ultimate becomes a key factor in fights.

Q.02 Should you prioritize stacking or trading? +

In early game, stacking is the priority. Trades should remain short and opportunistic. If you lose too much HP, you lose access to future waves and stacks. Your scaling is your main objective, and trades should never compromise it.

Q.03 Why does Nasus lose some lanes despite his scaling? +

Because some champions can punish him before he reaches his spikes. If heavily pressured, he cannot stack properly. Poor wave management or disrespecting enemy timings can completely delay his progression.

Q.04 Is Nasus viable in teamfights? +

Yes, but not as a traditional engager. He acts as a durable frontline targeting carries with Wither while absorbing pressure. His impact depends heavily on timing and stack count.
