Expert note

Expert take

Sona is an excellent pick when you understand that she does not win through immediate intimidation, but through clean accumulation. Her gameplay requires less flashy mechanics and more discipline: do not give hook angles, choose the right Power Chord, keep auras on several allies and hold Crescendo for the moment when the enemy commits too far. She suits players who like controlling the rhythm of a fight without necessarily being the most visible champion. If your team already has structure and a carry to amplify, Sona can make every objective much harder for the enemy to contest. If the draft needs a support to take the first risk, she becomes much less reliable.

Weak point

Hidden weakness

Sona’s deeper weakness is not only her lack of durability: it is her dependence on time. She needs a few seconds to rotate multiple auras, charge item effects, choose the right Power Chord and find a Crescendo that truly changes the fight. If the enemy forces her into instant decisions, or if her team spreads out before her cycles can create value, her kit loses a large part of its real strength.

§ 02 — Strengths & weaknesses Sona Wild Rift strengths and weaknesses

↑ Strengths
  • She becomes very rewarding in games where objectives force repeated grouping, because her auras gain value around every contested dragon, Herald or Baron.
  • Her Harmonic Echo plus Ardent Censer pairing turns short Q/W cycles into real sustain and DPS pressure for auto-attack carries.
  • Crescendo remains a decisive solo queue tool, especially when enemies group too tightly around river entrances or choke points.
  • She punishes compositions that cannot end fights quickly: the longer the fight lasts, the more her healing, shielding, buffs and Power Chords create separation.
↓ Weaknesses
  • Avoid Sona if the enemy bot lane has multiple hook or direct engage threats and your ADC cannot play under pressure without losing the wave.
  • Avoid her if your team has no frontline at all, because Sona cannot be the first champion entering objective space.
  • Avoid her if your team wants to split push constantly: her auras lose a lot of value when the team never plays grouped.
  • Avoid her if the game requires reliable engage from mid game onward; Crescendo can start fights, but Sona often prefers using it to punish enemy entry.

§ 05 — Recommended buildBest Sona Wild Rift build for the current patch

Sona has a very specific support profile: she is not picked to dominate every level 1 trade, but to turn a stable composition into a strong teamfight engine once her auras can rotate continuously. In the current patch, her value rises in games where fights last long enough to reward Harmonic Echo, Ardent Censer, repeated Q/W/E cycles and the threat of Crescendo. She is still fragile in solo queue, because her lane phase can collapse from one hook, one engage she disrespects, or one poor position before level 5. When played well, Sona rewards players who can slow the game down, track enemy threat windows and play around objectives instead of forcing unnecessary lane trades.

Sivir
Ideal
Sivir
Sona and Sivir turn extended fights into a nightmare through stacked speed, sustain, and distributed DPS. The execution is very natural: Sona stabilizes lane, then in the mid game the movement boosts combine with On The Hunt to either take initiative or kite backward without ever offering a clean punish window. This pair excels against compositions that want long fights but lack the tools to quickly break through a sped-up backline.
Seraphine
Ideal
Seraphine
Sona and Seraphine build an extremely clean teamfight composition where poke, sustain, and zone control stack seamlessly. The execution becomes powerful as soon as either one finds the opening: Crescendo or Encore starts, the other extends, and the allied backline plays into a fully locked area. This duo is excellent against grouped comps and in games where objectives become the central battleground.
Jinx
Strong
Jinx
Jinx loves having Sona create a stable environment so she can reach her teamfight spikes without having to survive the first seconds alone. The execution is classic but effective: Sona delays with healing, auras, and ultimate, then Jinx takes over as soon as the first target drops or a reset becomes available. This pair works very well against comps with weak backline reach or predictable engage paths.
Olaf
Strong
Olaf
Olaf benefits massively from Sona's speed and sustain, allowing him to maintain entry tempo much longer than expected. The execution is simple: Sona speeds up his approach, offsets chip damage while he runs through the frontline, then saves Crescendo to punish any counter-engage onto the backline. This synergy is very useful in aggressive front-to-back comps built around a bruiser breaking the front line open.

§ 07b — Mecánica avanzadaSona: combos & tips Wild Rift

Activar Acorde de Poder Azul (daño a aliados)
1 Q Q
2 W W
3 Q Q

§ 08 — DialoguesSona Wild Rift FAQ

Q.01 Is Sona a good blind pick support? +

Sona can be blind picked if your team already has frontline or if you can play the first waves very cleanly, but she is not automatically safe. She struggles heavily into hooks, fast engages and lanes that can punish her before level 5. If you blind pick her, you must accept a more defensive lane, ward early, respect bush angles and hold Exhaust to stop the all-in that would break your scaling phase.

Q.02 When does Sona become truly strong in a game? +

Sona becomes truly strong from level 5 onward, then reaches another level with Harmonic Echo and Ardent Censer. Level 5 gives her Crescendo, which is a direct answer to engages or a way to start an area fight. Her items then turn small spell cycles into sustain, buffs and team tempo. She does not need a massive snowball: she mainly needs to stay alive long enough to repeat her auras around objectives.

Q.03 Should Crescendo be used to engage or counter-engage? +

The best answer depends on the draft, but Sona often prefers counter-engage. If the enemy has Leona, Nautilus, Rakan, Pyke or another champion that must enter to create action, holding Crescendo lets you punish that entry and protect your carry. Engaging is still possible when several targets line up in a choke point, but wasting Crescendo on an isolated target greatly reduces your safety for the real fight.

Q.04 Why is Sona strong with hyper-carries? +

Sona amplifies hyper-carries well because she gives them exactly what they want in extended fights: sustain, attack buffs, movement speed and crowd control to stop enemies from reaching them too easily. With Ardent Censer, every defensive cycle also becomes an offensive increase. The condition still matters: the carry must be able to hit, and Sona must stay close enough to maintain auras without exposing herself.
