§ 01 — Editorial brief

Cho'Gath lands on August 7, 2026, mid-cycle 7.2, as a solo lane tank with permanent scaling: every successful Feast adds health, size and attack range kept for the rest of the game.

By WRC Studio ~ 2 min read Patch 7.2d

Cho'Gath is a Baron Lane tank in Wild Rift, a Void terror whose body literally grows with every devoured victim. His kit combines an area knock-up, a cone silence, spikes dealing percent max health damage, and a Feast that executes with true damage. He excels in compositions seeking an evolving frontline able to lock down an entire corridor. In Wild Rift, his defining trait is permanent scaling outside of items: every Feast stack adds health, size and attack range kept for the rest of the game.

Cho'Gath excels alongside allies who convert his knock-up into damage — Yasuo first and foremost. Compositions with overlapping zones (Orianna, Miss Fortune, Seraphine) turn his control into decisive combos. He thrives on teams playing objectives in tight terrain, where both of his zones are worth double.

Cho'Gath struggles against true damage and percent max health damage (Fiora, Vayne, Gwen) that turn his health pool into a liability. His complete lack of mobility makes him vulnerable to compositions that kite or lock him out of fights. Ranged harass during laning prevents him from stacking his ultimate, and without stacks he is just an average tank.

With Cho'Gath, stack Feast on minions whenever it is off cooldown: it is a scaling resource, not just an execute. Chain the knock-up into the silence to guarantee the cone connects. In teamfights, look for corridors and save the ultimate for the first enemy carry dropping below the true damage threshold.

§ 02 — Strengths & weaknesses Cho'Gath Wild Rift strengths and weaknesses

↑ Strengths
  • His scaling doesn't depend on gold: Feast stacks come off minions, so a rough lane doesn't cap his power curve the way it would a carry's.
  • Vorpal Spikes' percent max health damage climbs 0.5% per stack: at 6 stacks he stays relevant into the tankiest compositions on the patch.
  • The 2-second silence at rank 4 is one of the few reliable answers to combo assassins (Katarina, Akali) that doesn't rely on an ultimate.
  • Feast deals true damage: on a patch where tanks stack health and resistances, an execute that ignores both keeps its full value.
↓ Weaknesses
  • Into a true damage or percent max health composition (Fiora, Vayne, Gwen): his health pool stops being an asset and becomes a target.
  • Against a ranged laner able to deny him last hits: no farm means no stacks, and without stacks he is just an average tank.
  • In a composition that already has its engage and needs damage: he brings control and mass, not a sustained damage threat.
  • In a game decided by split-pushing: with zero mobility he loses every map trade and cannot rejoin fights on foot.

§ 03 — Game planCho'Gath Wild Rift game plan: early, mid and late game

I Early

Phase de farm patiente

Lvl. 1 → 6

§ 07b — Advanced MechanicsCho'Gath: combos & tips Wild Rift

Standard control combo
1 Q Q
2 W W
3 E E
4 AA

The first ability knocks up for 1s, which guarantees the cone from the second connects; the third chains all three spikes during the 60% slow left behind by the first

Execute combo
1 Q Q
2 E E
3 AA
4 R R

Land the crowd control first, check the remaining health, then release the ult: 300/450/600 TRUE damage is reduced by no resistance whatsoever

Anti-assassin combo
1 W W
2 Q Q
3 E E

Here the silence goes first, not second: it cuts the assassin's spell chain before it even begins

Corridor zoning combo
1 Q Q
2 W W
3 E E

In the river or at a pit entrance, both zones overlap and hit the entire team

Mechanical Tips

  • Feast is a resource, not a finisher: every kill with the ult grants a permanent stack (+80/120/160 health, +6/8/10% size, +4.7/6.2/7.7 attack range). Stack on minions and neutral monsters whenever it is off cooldown — 6 stacks maximum through that route
  • Impact delay on Rupture: the first ability is not instant. Aim where they are going, not where they are. Against a champion with a dash, wait until it has been spent
  • The silence does not block basic attacks: the second ability stops spells, not autos or Flash. Against an ADC it is there to cut a disengage tool, not to negate their damage
  • Spikes scale with stacks: the third ability deals 2.15% to 3.2% of the target's max health, +0.5% per Feast stack. At 6 stacks and rank 4, every spike hits for 6.2% max health — that is what keeps him relevant into tanks
  • Minion cap: base damage on the third ability is capped at 100/150/200/250 against minions and monsters. It is a farming tool, not a fast clear tool

Common Mistakes

  • Saving the ult "just in case": 80 seconds of cooldown spent without a stack is scaling lost for good. If no kill is on the table, the ult goes on a melee minion
  • Casting Feral Scream before Rupture in a trade: outside of anti-assassin situations the order is 1 then 2. The cone only reliably connects on an already immobilised target
  • Trading into true damage: against Fiora, Vayne or Gwen the health pool becomes a liability. Play under tower and wait for grouped fights
  • Split-pushing late: with no mobility, Cho'Gath loses every map trade. His value is in grouped teamfights, in corridors
  • Forgetting the hitbox: at 6 stacks his size grows by up to 100%. Enemy area abilities become significantly easier to land

Notable Interactions

  • Feast damage is true: it goes through armour, magic resist and damage reduction. Only a shield or invulnerability (Stasis, Zhonya, Kayle R) stops it
  • The Carnivore passive is doubled on champions, turrets and epic monsters — this lets him contest Dragon and Baron on far less health than normal
  • The 1-second knock-up from the first ability triggers Yasuo's Last Breath: one of the most reliable set-ups in the game, and it does not depend on his ultimate
  • The attack range gained through stacks (up to +75) changes his laning profile: from 4-5 stacks onwards he trades at a distance no standard melee can match
  • Feast cast range also grows (+2.5 per stack, max +25) — the execute becomes available from an increasingly safe distance

§ 08 — DialoguesCho'Gath Wild Rift FAQ

Q.01 Is Cho'Gath a tank or a mage in Wild Rift? +

A tank whose damage happens to be magic. He is built with health and resistances, but all three of his offensive abilities deal magic damage and scale with ability power. Damage-leaning builds (Riftmaker, Liandry's) work because they convert his health, not because they replace his frontline role.

Q.02 How many Feast stacks can you get at most? +

Six through minions and non-epic monsters. Kills on champions and epic monsters are not subject to that cap, so the total can go higher late. Every stack grants 80 to 160 health depending on ultimate rank, up to +100% size, up to +75 attack range and up to +25 cast range.

Q.03 How do you counter Cho'Gath in solo lane? +

With true damage and percent max health, which negate his single advantage — Fiora, Vayne and Gwen are his worst matchups. And with ranged harass: every wave he cannot farm is a stack he will never get, and his scaling is a countdown you can actually stop, unlike a carry's that a single kill can restore.
